URS and KeepSmart to Develop Online Project Management Training Program

Denver, CO - July 05, 2000 - A new online project management training program is being developed by URS Corporation, a leading engineering and program and construction management firm, and KeepSmart, a company that develops interactive, on-line training programs.

The two companies have formed an alliance to develop and distribute a continuing education program for project management professionals. URS is drawing on its broad-based project experience in numerous market sectors to develop content for the program, while KeepSmart is providing technological, psychological and instructional design expertise.

The program consists of 80 stand-alone modules, 15 to 60 minutes in length, which are suitable for both veteran and novice project managers in the engineering profession. The program can be installed on company Intranets or accessed on the Internet or on CD-ROM, and the modules can be purchased individually or as a complete series.

The elements of each module include audio instruction, animation, graphics, simulations, exercised and templates and electronic tools for workplace applications. Each module carries Professional Development Hour (PDH) and Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credits for the maintenance of professional certifications. The format enables users to proceed at their own pace and customize the program to meet individual needs.

A data management system, developed by KeepSmart, can be used to measure, report and reinforce users' performance. In addition, KeepSmart will arrange to forward performance results to state regulators, professional societies or employers if requested.

According to KeepSmart CEO Dr. William Grollman, the U.S. Department of Commerce estimates that on-line training costs one-third less than off-site classroom training and is completed in half the time. "Because there's no down time for off-site training, on-line education is quickly becoming the desired alternative to taking a class at night or during the work day for professionals and those who employ them. The URS-KeepSmart alliance is addressing that need," he said.

Commenting on the alliance, URS Executive Vice President Jean-Yves Perez, P.E., said, "The synergy between URS and KeepSmart will create an effective continuing education program for project management professionals, which is designed to cut costs and boost professional productivity."

URS Corporation, a publicly owned company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE:URS).
