Management Team

    Allen S. Greene
    Chief Executive Officer | Chairman of the Board
    Mr. Greene had been President and CEO of Veral & Co. L.L.C., a consulting and investment banking firm. Prior to consulting, Mr. Greene was COO of Medallion Financial Corp., a publicly traded specialty finance company. Medallion was named one of the 200 best small companies (Forbes Magazine, 11/99) during his tenure. Previously, Mr. Greene was President and CEO of Ryan Beck & Co., a 50-year old full-service securities and investment banking company. Prior to that, he was Chairman, President and CEO of VSB Bancorp and Valley Savings Bank, which were sold to UJB Bancorp (now Bank of America) in 1994. While at Valley, Financial World Magazine named him CEO of the Year bronze award winner in 1993 and 1994. Mr. Greene has been a Director of numerous public and private corporations.

    Jack Fingerhut
    President | Director of the Board
    Mr. Fingerhut was Chief Operating Officer of Creative Visual Enterprises, the predecessor company to the SmartPros Accounting division, which he co-founded with Dr. William K. Grollman in 1981. During his career, he has served as project director for hundreds of video and Web-delivered programs, including custom projects for United Technologies, United Parcel Service, Prentice Hall Professional Software and GE Credit. In 1973, he received a BA degree in History from the University of Maryland and earned his MBA in Accounting from Rutgers University in 1974. He is certified to practice accounting in New Jersey. Mr. Fingerhut is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of CPAs.

    Stanley Wirtheim
    Chief Financial Officer
    Previous to his position with SmartPros, Mr. Wirtheim managed a private accounting practice. He has acted as SmartPros accounting consultant since 1981. Mr. Wirtheim is a CPA and received a BBA in accounting from Baruch College.

    Joseph Fish
    Chief Technology Officer
    Mr. Fish joined Creative Visual Enterprise in 1998 as the Vice President of New Media, which is now part of the SmartPros Technology Group. Before joining SmartPros, Mr. Fish co-founded a new media company (Multi Digital Media) in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1994. During the period 1994 to 1998, Mr. Fish merged his company with two other Internet professional service firms to create Interpath Communications, Inc. His clients included Nortel, Pfizer, ASCAP, First Union, Bayer, Novartis, Glaxo-Welcome and MCI. He has lectured on multimedia and Internet topics to numerous groups around the country including the North Carolina State Academy of Sciences and the Association of Sciences-Technology Centers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

    Joseph W. Higgins
    Senior Vice President, Sales
    Mr. Higgins oversees sales and business development activities at SmartPros. Mr. Higgins' resume features over two decades of sales experience, including 20+ years at Pitney Bowes. While at Pitney Bowes, Mr. Higgins worked his way from branch manager to the executive in charge of Pitney Bowes' national sales force. Mr. Higgins was responsible for managing a $400 million-per-year sales organization, driven by as many as a 600+ member sales force in over 80 regionalized offices. Pitney Bowes won several prestigious sales awards during his tenure, including recognition by J.D. Power and Associates in 2003 and 2004 as the best sales force in the country. Sales at Pitney Bowes went from $100 million to $400 million during his tenure. Mr. Higgins was part of the Pitney Bowes management team that spun off certain Pitney Bowes assets in 2001 into a new venture called Imagistics International Inc. (previously NYSE: IGI). Mr. Higgins was most recently the Vice President of National Sales at Imagistics prior to joining SmartPros.

    Shane Gillispie
    Vice President, Marketing and eCommerce
    Mr. Gillispie co-founded Pro2Net, managing the company's product development and marketing. Mr. Gillispie helped grow the company from start-up into a 140 employee operation before SmartPros acquired Pro2Net's assets in 2001. Mr. Gillispie also founded Watchdog Media, ranked in 1996 as one of the top 10 new-media marketing agencies in the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Gillispie's PR and marketing background also includes work in commercial radio, the music recording industry, corporate video production and photojournalism. Mr. Gillispie attended the University of Washington in Seattle, majoring in public relations and the politics of mass media.

    David Gebler
    President, Working Values | Senior Vice President, SmartPros
    Mr. Gebler founded Working Values in 1993 as a strategic communications and learning agency. A business lawyer by training, Mr. Gebler received his Juris Doctor from the University of California in Davis. As an attorney in private practice, Mr. Gebler gained extensive experience in regulatory and software licensing issues. He worked in Israel for CBS Records International as Director of Business Affairs, and as a staff lawyer for El Al Israel Airlines. He became familiar with the regulatory and compliance issues of public companies while serving as Corporate Counsel for Gamma International. Mr. Gebler is a recognized thought leader in the emerging field of values-based ethics, and is a noted speaker on ethics and values and their role in the workplace.

    Steve Henn
    President, Legal
    Prior to his position at SmartPros, Mr. Henn was President and founder of Cognistar, a leading provider of online continuing education to lawyers. Before founding Cognistar, Mr. Henn was Vice President and CFO of MangoSoft Corporation, a developer of advanced networking software, and has held executive positions at Accent Color Sciences, Inc., CompuDyne Corporation, and Corcap, Inc., where he served on the Board of Directors until 1994. Mr. Henn is also an attorney, admitted to the Connecticut and Federal bars, specializing in corporate and securities law. Mr. Henn has been an advisor to several Internet-related companies and is a past member of the Massachusetts Department of Education Advisory Council on Global Education. Mr. Henn holds a BA in Economics from the University of Chicago and JD from the University of Connecticut.

    Mark R. Luciano
    Vice President, Engineering and Channel Partners
    Mr. Luciano has over 20 years experience in managing business development in distance higher education and financial services. His experience includes a diversified background of providing online higher education solutions in engineering, information technology, financial services, manufacturing and retail. Mr. Luciano most recently was with Laureate Education as Enterprise Manager, managing its largest clients for online higher education. Prior to that, Mr. Luciano had his own firm that distributed online higher education to the corporate and government market. Mr. Luciano also was with American Bankers Insurance Group, serving as Vice President of Consumer Markets, as well as Vice President of Training and Development. Mr. Luciano has a BS in Finance from Louisiana State University.

    Seth Oberman
    President, Skye Multimedia, Ltd.
    Mr. Oberman has been working in the multimedia and eLearning fields for more than 15 years. He is co-founder of Skye Multimedia – a creative multimedia company focused on developing interactive marketing and training applications acquired by SmartPros in 2006. Prior to Skye, he worked in the Human Factors department at AT&T focusing on interface design and usability testing. After his tenure at AT&T, Mr. Oberman worked as a multimedia programmer where he developed marketing and training applications for Fortune 500 companies. Mr. Oberman holds a business degree from Lehigh University.

John J. Gorman
Director of the Board
Committee Membership: Audit, Compensation and Nominating
Mr. Gorman is a partner in the Washington, D.C., law firm Luse Gorman Pomerenk & Schick, and has been actively involved in representing financial institutions and their holding companies for more than 20 years. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, corporate and securities law, executive compensation, corporate governance and general bank regulatory matters. His clients include national and regional investment banking firms. Mr. Gorman is a frequent speaker on securities law and corporate governance issues, and he has authored numerous articles on matters affecting financial institutions that have appeared in The American Banker, SNL Thrift Investor and Community Banker. Mr. Gorman is a faculty member of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), and served as a Commissioner on the 2004 NACD Blue Ribbon Commission on Board Leadership. Prior to entering into private practice, Mr. Gorman was Special Counsel to the Chief Counsel, Corporation Finance Division, Securities and Exchange Commission.

Martin H. Lager
Director of the Board | Audit Committee Chairman
Committee Membership: Audit
Mr. Lager was appointed to our Board of Directors in April 2004. From January 1, 1996, through December 31, 2003, Mr. Lager was a partner in the accounting firm of Rubin & Katz LLP where he was the manager of the tax department. On January 1, 2004, Mr. Lager started his own accounting practice, Martin H. Lager, CPA. Mr. Lager received a B.S. in Accounting from Babson College in 1974 and an MBA in Taxation in 1980 from St. John's University. He is a licensed CPA in the state of New York.

Leonard J. Stanley
Director of the Board
Committee Membership: Audit and Compensation
Mr. Stanley has been with Ryan Beck & Co., located in Florham Park, New Jersey, since 1996. Since 2002, he has served as Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer, and from 1996 though 2002, he served as the company's Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Stanley is also on the Board of Directors for Cenlar Capital Corporation and Cenlar Federal Savings Bank. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the State University of New York. Mr. Stanley is a Certified Public Accountant, and holds serveral licenses in the securities industry, including Series 24, 27, 3 and 63.
