PDU Credit
PDU credit is given by the Project Management Institute. SmartPros is a recognized provider with the PMI Registered Educational Provider Program (PMI R.E.P.). SmartPros accepts and adheres to all PMI R.E.P. Program Policies, requirement and rules concerning the provision of professional education activities and materials. This Project Management course can be used for up to 35 hours of PDU credit. In order to receive credit you must submit the appropriate forms to the Project Management Institute. For details go to http://www.pmi.org/info/PDC_CCRReportingForms.asp. Each of the 11 Sections has an associated number of credit hours. Once a student has completed each of the modules in a section they can apply for credit with the Project Management Institute.

PDH Credit
PDH credit is used in the general engineering field, and the number of credits required depends on the particular state and discipline of engineering. NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) provides the guidelines for Continuing Professional Competency, and their site gives the relevant descriptions for PDUs and requirements by state. While NCEES provides guidelines for PDH credit, individuals normally report their credit to an association, such as the ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers), NSPE (National Society of Professional Engineers) or ACEC (American Council of Engineering Companies), which may also have requirements for maintaining a level professional competence.

How the SmartPros System Works
Each time an individual successfully completes a module, that module and the corresponding credits will be added to their "electronic transcript." Individuals can view their transcript at any time and have the option to print a certificate for their records. Also, after successfully completing a module, the individual will receive an e-mail confirmation of the course they took, the credit hours and the score. The e-mail will also contain a link to print a certificate for that course. Once all the modules in a given section are complete the individual can combine the certificates and send them to the appropriate reporting organization or association. SmartPros will maintain records of these courses as required by the association or organization.
