Future Engineers Ready for Big Week of Events


February 2007 (SmartPros) — Engineers Week 2007 kick offs on Feb. 18 with several activities geared toward future engineers.

A formal coalition of more than 75 engineering, professional, and technical societies and more than 50 corporations and government agencies, Engineers Week aims to increase understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers among young students.

This year marks new intiatives, including a national public service campaign on PBS called Design Squad, which introduces kids and families to the engineering design process. There is also a new multi-media guide to accompany the fifth season of the popular PBS television show CyberChase.

  • National Engineers Week Future City Competition
  • Drive Time Radio Tour
  • Family Day (Feb. 17)
  • National Engineering Design Challenge
  • National Academy of Engineering Awards
  • Visioneering 2007: Designing the Future
  • Sightseer's Guide to Engineering
  • Discover Engineering
